Dzmitry Daskevich. Freedom Prize 2012 by the Youth of the European People’s Party
YEPP awards the Freedom Prize to Belarusian activist Dzmitry Daskevich
In 2012, the board of YEPP awards the Freedom Prize to Belarusian activist Dzmitry Dashkevich. As the chairman of Young Front, the politician organized numerous peaceful street actions and proved to be a key player of the opposition movement. The Lukashenko regime replied with shameful repressions and prison sentences. Some Young Front activists are still in detention. Dmitry Dashkevich has been imprisoned for more than a year, where he is periodically subjected to moral and physical pressure and tortures.
The Freedom Prize delivered by Pedro Mota Soares, Portuguese Minister of Solidarity and Social Security and the President of YEPP, Csaba Domotor.
“Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”. Wishes that these youngsters can’t enjoy because they are too busy fighting for their freedom.
Send them Christmas postcards to express your support. They will appreciate it.
"Europe for Belarus
Europe for Belarus
With Christmas and the New Year approaching, YEPP organizes a postcard campaign to express support to young political prisoners in Belarus, Europe’s last standing dictatorship. We ask you and all our member organizations to send postcards along with some encouraging words to our fellow activists to their prison. It is a small gesture for you, but a great sign of hope for them. Sending postcard might prove that we stand by young democrats in Belarus even in the most difficult hours.
Please send the postcards during the Christmas holidays. You can find the names and (prison) addresses underneath:

August 12 // International Youth Day 2011: Mikita Likhavid is 21. He is a young European, just like us. He expressed some of his ideas, just like we do. But was arrested and imprisoned for that. Why? Because he lives in Belarus. YEPP dedicates this year’s Day of Youth, to Mikita who instead of having vacations like us, is under a 3,5 year sentence, because of his democratic ideas. Freedom for the Youth of Belarus!
